Double Cove, designed by the world-famous architects' office of Lord Richard Rogers, aimed at creating a green community under the planning and architecture design concept of “living in the park”. It emphasized integration with nature as well as low-carbon footprint and healthy life style. Double Cove comprises 3,500 residential units, as well as a shopping mall, clubhouse, kindergarten, car parks, landscaped gardens and a central park which acts as the precinct’s ‘green lung’.
As the green building consultant of Double Cove, GB Tech Consulting Ltd of the SRT Design Group provided comprehensive technical support for the project’s sustainable design. We put forward proposals for integrated green-building strategies so as to achieve intensive land use, efficient energy use, water savings, material savings and improved indoor environment. Recently, Double Cove won the Leadership in Sustainable Design and Performance Award for residential projects, which is presented by the World Green Building Council to pioneering green building projects that set new benchmarks for sustainability. There are winners for three sub-categories namely residential, commercial and public buildings. Besides, Double Cove was the first private residential development to have attained the China GBL three-star design label, and was selected as a case study project by the China Annual Green Building Report 2012. Double Cove also won Hong Kong’s Green Building Merit Award in 2012. All these awards and recognitions have to be a huge endorsement for the project's effort to adopt integrated green building design strategies for the built environment.
